Tim has coached founders and senior leaders one-to-one for ten years. He built and chaired a C12 Group cohort in Greater Phoenix to a Net Promoter Score of 10; members rated the individual coaching the most valuable component of the forum. Hogan-anchored development plans frame the long-horizon work; structured decision reviews frame the near-term work. The receipts
Tim is certified across the full Hogan suite — HPI, HDS, MVPI, HBRI, and the Hogan 360. His own HBRI sits at the 100th percentile, which sharpens how he reads other leaders' reports. Northwestern University's Organizational and Leadership Coaching Certificate (4.0 GPA) anchors the academic frame. The receipts
Tim designed the risk architecture for Genesis Research & Asset Management, a multi-manager managed-futures fund-of-funds. He evaluated several hundred Commodity Trading Advisors and built a fifteen-manager portfolio organized around statistical independence across strategies. The fund won the World Finance Hedge Fund Award for Best Managed Futures CTA Fund of Funds in North America. The receipts
As Chief Investment Officer of Kingsbury Capital, Tim presented investment recommendations to bank investment and executive committees. At Genesis he pitched institutional investors, family offices, and public-pension representatives. Across his career he has translated complex derivatives positions for clearing firms, regulators, and committees in language non-specialists could act on.The receipts
Tim has held FINRA Series 3, 7, and 66 registrations. He operated under CFTC oversight at Genesis Research & Asset Management, and under broker-dealer and Registered Investment Adviser frameworks at Kingsbury Capital. No firm under his leadership has received an adverse audit finding across his career inside CME, CBOE, LIFFE, FINRA, RIA, broker-dealer, and CFTC regulatory environments. The receipts
Tim served as Senior Pastor of Place of Grace Fellowship in San Antonio from 2021 to 2025. He directed a real estate transaction that eliminated institutional debt, cut the operating budget from roughly $220,000 to $160,000 while protecting outreach, and scaled the food ministry from 30–40 families to about 150 served twice monthly — roughly $1 million of food distributed annually with the San Antonio Food Bank. The receipts
Tim earned the Master of Divinity from the University of Chicago in a multi-cultural, multi-denominational cohort. He has led ministry across Christ Church of Oak Brook (evangelical), McDowell Mountain Community Church (non-denominational), and Place of Grace Fellowship. He is an ordained minister in the Church of God (Anderson), in good standing, and taught a weekly advanced adult Scripture class for six years. The receipts
Tim spent seventeen years on the floors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange running a derivatives book. He voluntarily closed Genesis Research when realized returns no longer matched what he had promised investors. He carried a congregation through ten funerals in four years. The same discipline shapes the coaching work today.Founders and senior leaders engage Tim to strengthen judgment under stress, test assumptions, and separate decision process from outcome. Hogan-based assessment anchors the work; adult-development frameworks shape it. Engagements have addressed succession, capital structure, AI integration, executive communication, and organizational design.
Tim built and led a peer advisory forum for Christian CEOs and business owners. Monthly cohorts combined case-based curriculum, confidential peer review, and one-to-one coaching. Members rated the individual coaching the highest-value component of the forum; the cohort returned a Net Promoter Score of 10.
Tim co-founded and managed a multi-manager managed-futures fund-of-funds under fiduciary and regulatory oversight. He designed the risk architecture, evaluated several hundred Commodity Trading Advisors, and built a fifteen-manager portfolio organized around statistical independence across strategies. The fund received the World Finance Hedge Fund Award for Best Managed Futures CTA Fund of Funds in North America.
As CIO of a federally and state-regulated banking institution, Tim presented investment recommendations to committee, documented analysis under broker-dealer and Registered Investment Adviser frameworks, and operated under formal capital and compliance constraints.
Tim began trading in 1985 and joined Futrex in 1986. He advanced from trader to Managing Member and equity owner. He directed firm capital across currency futures, equity index options, and listed stock options; built an internal options valuation system; and supervised traders under exchange margin discipline. The CME elected Tim to four governance roles, including S&P 500 Options Pit Chairman and Options Advisor to the Board-Level Financial Instrument Committee — the only non-board member to serve in that advisory capacity. Since 2002 he has continued to trade his own account off floor, sometimes actively and sometimes as a disciplined avocation.
Tim led a lean nonprofit through teaching, pastoral care, and financial restructuring. He directed a real estate transaction that eliminated debt, scaled the food ministry from roughly 30 families to more than 150 served twice monthly, and oversaw distribution of about $1 million in food annually in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank.
Tim served in formal ministry leadership while completing the Master of Divinity at the University of Chicago, then continued in leadership after graduation. He stabilized an evening worship community, received formal training in funerals and pastoral care, authored a digital-strategy proposal adopted by senior leadership, and represented the church on a Civil Rights educational tour with Willow Creek and Salem Baptist Church.
In the years before stepping into the senior pastorate, Tim coached founder-led companies on the foundation work that shapes whether later success can hold: operating discipline, decision process, executive communication, leadership clarity, and the integration of faith with business judgment. Most engagements began with a Hogan assessment. Several of these companies reached significant outcomes after Tim's engagements concluded — sales to national firms, sales to private-equity buyers, institutional growth past nine figures. Foundation work shapes what later success can stand on.
Selected engagements: a large national legal nonprofit · Ghaster Commercial Painting · Applegate Insulation · Borntec Construction (fintech, served big banks and clearing houses) · Movement Maker (Leslee & Brett) · JDI Search · a beginning RIA now SEC-registered · a landscape company later sold to a national firm · a car-wash builder later sold to a private-equity buyer · plus a large retail painting company, a shed builder, a veteran-owned SEO firm, and a construction-marketing firm. Ministry counsel: authored bylaws for Texas Ministries (Church of God, Texas); extensive marriage coaching alongside business coaching.
Tim brings a cognitive-analytical approach to coaching and consulting. The work centers on sophisticated risk-taking: testing assumptions, separating process from outcome, and reducing predictable distortions such as confirmation bias, anchoring, and escalation of commitment. Founders, owners, and senior leaders engage Tim when the next decision matters.
Tim Holmes, Atlanta
Engagements address succession planning, capital structure, organizational design, executive communication, AI integration, and authority clarity. Tim begins most engagements with Hogan assessment (HPI, HDS, MVPI, and where appropriate HBRI and 360) and builds the development plan around the data. Adult-development frameworks shape long-horizon work; structured decision reviews shape near-term work.
Tim built and led a peer advisory forum for chief executives and business owners. He delivered case-based curriculum, moderated confidential peer review, and ran one-to-one coaching engagements alongside the roundtable. The cohort returned a Net Promoter Score of 10.
The method rests on three habits Tim insists clients build. First, name the actual decision and its trade-offs before any debate about action. Second, regulate emotional response under stress so reasoning stays available. Third, review decision logic after the fact, separated from outcome, so the lessons survive luck. The years on a trading floor and inside a fund-of-funds taught Tim that disciplined process beats lucky outcomes over any meaningful run.
A short, high-level profile drawn from Tim's Hogan suite (HPI, HDS, MVPI, HBRI) and DISC. Two scores at the 100th percentile anchor the picture: HBRI for reasoning and Interpersonal Sensitivity for relational presence. The two together rarely co-occur.
The HBRI measures tactical and strategic reasoning — how a person works problems, evaluates evidence, and forms judgments under ambiguity. A purely quantitative background normally produces a strong score in the 80s. The 100th-percentile result reflects two streams in Tim's training. Mathematics degrees from Kalamazoo and Pittsburgh supply the quantitative discipline. The Master of Divinity from the University of Chicago supplies the verbal and subjective discipline.
The Hogan Personality Inventory places Tim at the 100th percentile on Interpersonal Sensitivity. The score predicts consistent positive regard, attentive presence, and the durable trust that lets clients say hard things. The trading floor years, the senior pastoral years, and the clinical pastoral education at Northwestern Memorial Hospital all gave the trait somewhere to develop.
All scores percentile rank against the Hogan global norm group. Bars show only strengths.

Tim co-founded Genesis Research & Asset Management, a multi-manager managed-futures fund-of-funds. The firm built its portfolio around statistical independence across strategies and competed at the institutional level. The fund received the World Finance Hedge Fund Award for Best Managed Futures CTA Fund of Funds in North America.
Genesis operated through a difficult period for small managed-futures managers. After 2008, the CTA space found it hard to raise institutional capital, and many strategies underperformed. When the realized returns could no longer match what Tim had promised to fund investors and to operating-company investors, he closed the fund. His partners disagreed and wanted to continue. Tim chose to return capital and wind the firm down. The standard that drove the decision was integrity to the people who had trusted him with their money.
Three habits govern Tim's risk-taking. First, every position has a quantified downside before it has a size. Second, every structure has a back door before it receives capital. Third, fat tails sit inside the analysis from the first calculation; true black swans, by definition, cannot. The same discipline that built the Genesis portfolio is the discipline that closed it.
Tim started trading in 1985 and joined Futrex Trading in 1986. Seventeen years on the floors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange shaped his view of risk, discipline, and decision-making under live pressure. Since 2002 he has continued to trade his own account off floor.
Tim held membership in the International Monetary Market (IMM) at the CME and at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. The CME elected him to four governance roles:
Tim has continued to trade his own account since leaving the floor in 2002. The activity has ranged from intensive periods of active trading to longer stretches as a disciplined avocation. The continuity has kept his market reading current and his risk instincts sharp.
Beyond the hedge fund and the trading floor, Tim has served as Chief Investment Officer in a regulated bank, presented to institutional and accredited investors, and operated under broker-dealer and Registered Investment Adviser frameworks. The thread across the work is committee-grade documentation, disciplined risk framing, and clear translation of complex structures for non-technical audiences.
Across Genesis, Kingsbury, and the executive-advisory practice, Tim has translated complex financial structures into clear, usable language for traders, investors, committees, founders, and peer advisory groups. The approach strengthens alignment, clarifies trade-offs, and reinforces confidence in established investment processes.
Ordained in the Church of God (Anderson), Tim has carried senior pastoral responsibility, taught Scripture in highly resourced and resource-thin congregations, chaired a Christian executive forum, and counseled leadership at a large national religious-liberty legal nonprofit. Independent reviewers describe his preaching as theologically coherent, pastorally serious, imaginatively forceful, and shaped by a coach's instinct to invite rather than prescribe.
Tim led a lean nonprofit through teaching, pastoral care, and financial restructuring.
Tim chaired a peer advisory forum for Christian CEOs and business owners. The work integrated Scripture, leadership development, and business strategy; the forum returned a Net Promoter Score of 10.
Tim taught a weekly advanced adult Scripture class in a large suburban congregation. The class continued under volunteer leadership after his tenure.
Tim provided coaching and counsel to leadership at Alliance Defending Freedom, a large national religious-liberty and free-speech legal nonprofit, on foundation work and decision process.
Tim served in formal ministry leadership while completing the Master of Divinity at the University of Chicago, then continued in leadership after graduation. He delivered congregational instruction, led the liturgical worship service, stabilized an evening Vespers community, received formal training in funerals and pastoral care, authored a digital-strategy proposal adopted by senior leadership, and represented the church on a Civil Rights educational tour with Willow Creek and Salem Baptist. He returned in 2023–2024 as a ministry resource and advisor to the lead pastor.
Tim authored bylaws for Texas Ministries (Church of God, Texas).
"Timothy Holmes preaches with real theological depth, a coherent pastoral vision, and a distinctive voice. He does not sound generic. He builds sermon series around governing ideas and sustains them over time … He preaches with a coach's instinct. He tends to invite rather than prescribe … A congregation that wants biblical seriousness, pastoral honesty, imaginative application, and a preacher who can help people move from drift to clarity should take him seriously."
Ordained Minister, Church of God (Anderson), in good standing.
Pastoral care has run alongside every other role in Tim's adult life. He completed one unit of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, has led ten memorial services in the past four years, and has supported adults, couples, and families through illness, grief, recovery, marital strain, and family distress.
Tim brings calm attention, reflective listening, and theological seriousness to care. He does not flatten hard texts and he does not rush people through grief. The Interpersonal Sensitivity score at the 100th percentile predicts the steady presence; the years on a trading floor and in committee rooms produced the discipline to stay present when the room is sharp with pain.
Tim's formal education combines quantitative training with theological depth. Mathematics and physics shaped how he thinks; divinity school shaped what he thinks about; the Northwestern coaching certificate shaped how he works with leaders.
Three-year residential Master of Divinity in a multi-cultural, multi-denominational cohort. The Divinity School trained Tim in close reading of Scripture, historical theology, ethics, and pastoral practice within one of the most rigorous theological faculties in the country. The MDiv supplies the verbal and subjective reasoning behind the HBRI 100th-percentile score.
Graduate-level training in leadership coaching, organizational learning, and change. The certificate provided the academic framework Tim applies in current coaching engagements.
